ITS ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!

If I could write a Haiku for the cosmetics industry it would go something like this:
I say I will fix all of your problems in life
I most likely don't

So basically this is just me spewing my perspective briefly.
Don't be a slave to the cosmetics industry. Find out what makes things work and then decide if its for you. find a small handful of products that work for you and stick with it. If its really your passion explore all you want, but when I hit puberty I went from "OMG IF I GET 1BILLION PRODUCTS WITH MY PARENTS MONEY THAT ILL BE A SEXY MOVIE STAR!!!" no... now im trying to size down but i have a hoarding problem... err... I never use any of this stuff... or most of the stuff that makes my life a heavy burden... i want to be able to pack my life up in 2 suitcases. Right now... it better be two fucking BIIIIIIIG suitcases!

Have a Great XMASS EVE! (p.s. next year im celebrating the pagan version of Christmas... its way cooler)

It shouldn't be this way

Im sitting in bed with the 2 coolest blankets in my parents house. The oldest of the two was made by a great grandma or aunt for my mother and is next to the coziest crochet blanket ever. Its not soft or fuzzy or anything special but it just has the best aura. the second blanket is the first bedspread my mom bought for herself when she moved out of her parents. Its just a cotton stuffed white blanket with little blue flowers.

I sit here and hate on my life. Its my xmass break and all I can be is the most unoptimistic  person in the house.

I guess all I can do is listen to a little Jefferson Airplane Woodstock footage and go to bed.

Cant sleep... Maybe music will help

Double Dog Dare

I dare you
-Go out and buy a new flavor of tea (I bought one recently with lavender, peppermint, and many other herbs. Its called calm down or something like that)
- Take a reaaaaly long bath. Add salts, oatmeal, tea, honey, scents, bath bombs, WHAT EVER YOU HAVE in your kitchen light a candle, read a book, or just breath. I like eating food in the bath, makes me feel like a Egyptian/Greek/Roman goddess /i want to get little boats like in the Elizabeth Taylor version of Cleopatra. I think I might get a book on making boats and just apply the measurements to quarter scale and make a bunch of little ships... Yes that's a great way to spend my X-mass holiday... but actually it is
- Learn a new language, not necessarily the whole thing, but maybe basics like Hey, Howya doin, Wheres the bathroom, do you like apple pie? What ever floats your boat!
- Find or explore something that you don't like in the world and take action on it! What ever it is! As Grandmother willow from Pocahontas said, even the tiniest ripples make a difference. They are better than no ripples at all.
- Don't brush your hair for a week, and wash it every other day with a bio degradable shampoo... you don't know if you like it till you try. If your going to do this id say stock up on dry shampoo and wide-tooth combs. and educate yourself in dreading, cuz i have partial dreads in the sense that i separate my hair and palm roll the sections, it keeps my messy hair in check.

Simple fun Sunday (for 1 more hour.)

Try these two things:
1. Stand in front of a mirror, close one eye, and trace your face on the mirror.
2. Draw your hand with the hand that you're drawing.

Ginger Soda

Head aches?
Nausia?
Upset tummy?
or just plain hungover?

Ginger ail works great but has so much sugar in it. Why not make your own medicine! Cheep easy and bad ass!!

1 medium sized ginger root
2 liters of club soda/soda water/ carbonated water (I prefer club soda)
A jug, bowl or what ever!

Cut the ginger root into thin strips, then combine all of the above in your jug or bowl of choice, place in the fridge and wait. Its not a set recipe you can add more or less ginger,  leave it in the fridge anywhere from 1 hour- over night and shake gently occasionally.. Strain into glass(es) and serve with ice and or lemon wedges (this is optional, the scent of lemon helps with nausea).

 CURED!!!

Why?

First off listen to this.

"Turn the television off, cousin, that ain’t nothing for a girl to see
I’ve got a niece and best believe she mean the world to me
and she don’t need to see the shit that they think a girl should be"
First of I fully agree with this. As I have said before we have this ideal woman placed in our minds wither we realize this or not. there are so many things wrong with television and media, do the good really weigh out the bad?

"ninety pound skinny bitches that ain’t even girl to me
essentially this shit designed to take a hold of you
telling lies till your vision takes control of you"
WOah...woahhh... wait... so you cant yell "go on a diet" but you can yell at us who are twigs by gene "go eat a sammage!!"...... you say what?????? Kay I agree, not everyone should be on a diet or ashamed of their bodies, but seriously? How hypocritical is that?

"they finding different ways to take your fucking soul from you
a show about a model make your self esteem low for you
everything is fake trust me no one that lovely
I’ve met a lot of famous people and they fat and ugly"
The rich and famous are very much edited and what not, same with models. This is horrible for everyone young and old. The stakes are set too high. We should identify this and move on. Until society stops being so fucking fascinated with this culture we wont change.

"I ain’t any better I just think the fact is funny
that they’ll take a little girl and pimp her for the cash and money
and whats gonna become of them in like fifty years
when Hannah Montana turning into Britney spears
they chew you up and spit you out cus no one really cares
and aint nobody gonna hold you when you really scared
where the parents at cousin this is really bad
is this the motherfucking manager or really dad
is he concerned about his daughter or his silly pad
this aint gonna change nothing I jus think this is really sad"

Nuff said.

I am Me

you "I am me? Isn't that obvious?"
me "Yes but are you happy with you? Do you look at your face and think, I like what I see! There's no improvement I would make to this face!"
you "Yes, but no, my skin is all blotchy. I think I'm going to buy that moisturiser that evens out my skin tone. That will fix everything"
me "Yes maybe it will work, and maybe it wont. What will you do if it doesn't?"
you "Well that's what foundations for, isn't it?"

I don't know the answers to life, but I think its rather sad that our world has come to this. I look in the mirror and I cringe at my skin. I inspect every bump and scar. Is this really the way life's supposed to be? Are we supposed to dislike what we are? No, if you think about it, a few red spots on your face isn't that big of a deal/ Preteens and teenagers sometimes stay home from school when they have a breakout, or stand in front of mirrors hating themselves. This is so wrong. So much for the "American Dream", North America the land of happiness and fulfilment. How is this so when we are conditioned to hate our skin. You are not more successful if you have perfect skin. Your not a better person, your not a nicer person, BLABLABLA. Now, I'M not trying to bring those with perfect skin down, all I am saying is that those of us with spots that no face wash or skin regimin will fix shouldn't stress ourselves out SO FRIGGEN MUCH. We need to learn to look at skin a different way.

E is for Emotions.

We all have them, we all have different levels of them, and we all scrutinize ourselves for our emotions at least one point in our lives.

When it comes to emotions there isn't always an answer for controlling them. No two people are alike, and while I strongly believe a world without emotions as we know it would be a boring one and we should embrace it, I constantly curse the "heavens" for it being so.

All it takes is an image, scent, or sound, that triggers a memory so change a good day to a horrible day.

I wish it were as easy as 1-2-3 but sadly no, changing your own mind can prove to be difficult at time.

Anyways, nothing works better than keeping a journal and venting to a pal. Though in my experience, there is only so much venting one can take, most people don't want to hear how upset you are daily... kinda gets a little annoying.

This has been a note to self and a note to you!

Lets Think About it.

First off watch this.

Now think, how much of your routine do you do because its whats done? What do I mean whats done? I mean because its what your mother did, your friends do, the media says YOU SHOULD do. Whens the last time you have actually questioned "Why do we do this?". Whether its cosmetic, religious, routine, or just plain old diet. I find my family has become increasingly lazy over the years. We drive what would take us ten minutes to walk, we eat more frozen prepared foods, and we do things just because its the way we've been doing it for years. What frustrates me the most is the simplest, when we are making food or pouring a glass of milk, and we leave the fridge open the WHOLE TIME. Ridiculously simple I know, it only wastes a little energy (despite the fact that it adds up over time), but we never think about the simple.

Convenience stores, frozen food, driving everywhere.

GAAAA

My friends are so perplexed why I don't have my drivers licence and why on earth i would EVER... EEEVAARR want to take the buss, bike or walk.

I know this is a little off topic from the video I posted but Laci really gets me thinking. She always states a valid question that makes me question the way my life is right now.

I do so much because its routine.

We do so much because its how its done.

Its amazing how humans adapt to whats around them and bodies of people can be almost identical but when someones different they are scrutinized. Really they should be celebrated, its easy to be like those around you but hard to step out as an individual.

Your not a lost cause just because you are the way you are. Shine beyond that belief.

Who? What? When? Where? Why?

WARNING THE FOLLOWING POST IS RAMBLING. I DID NOT STRUCTURE MY PARAGRAPHS IN ANY WAY.
People have lost their touch, everything always has to MEAN something. Now I'M all for poetry, philosophy, and what-not but I just need to ask that question. WHY must everything MEAN something?

I say this while being ironic, pondering why we ponder. Regardless the question still stands.

Can we always blame the media? What has become of monogamy, is it really "an institution that's in decay"?

While I ponder this I realize, life has changed, not for me, but for humanity. The concept of what life was is now under question. Its acceptable to have or not have religion. its acceptable to be black white or what not. Its acceptable to or not to be married. Its acceptable to or not to be a stay at home mother(f.y.i I am not but my mother is.). Its acceptable to be gay. While all these things are accepted be still scrutinize and over analyze, so much so that we don't realize life isn't black and white, life is a chain of decisions that used to have those strong social barriers on them but now the chains are broken. With these broken chains we do not know what to do. They still remain reminding us of what we once were, some still follow the beliefs of the past.

Marvel Gone Dunit Again!

Movie: Thor (2011)

Rating: 8.5/10

General Opinion: This movie was like a moving comic book, the plot was a little lacking and the ending was cliche but the movie as a whole was action packed and humorous.

I got to see Thor the day before it was released thanks to my bestie Keely. Overall it was a good movie, though what I like particularly much is the fact that it was a moving comic strip. The shots and colours had that Marvel comic book feel down to a tee without being tacky. The costumes and general wardrobe were not over the top or unrealistic. For example, Natalie Portmans character (Jane Foster) is a scientist who lives in the middle of nowhere was wearing dusty boots, no lipstick, NO HIGHHEELS. I hate when they doll up characters who its out of the characters character to be so. LOL confusing sentence. The only criticism I have about this movie is that the ending seemed a little abrupt (I guess because there is going to be a sequel?) and that I saw it in 3D. I'M one of the many who get headaches and experience minor discomfort during 3D movies.

Anyway! If you have the chance to see Thor, or have been thinking about it I say GO FOR IT! Its worth your money and time.

Ciao :)

TECKTONIK

Yes laydeez and Gents! I am into dancing.
I am done high school have no job and nothing to do! Luckily its almost summer so all my friends who went to college and university are returning home.

Dance, I have ALWAYS loved it. The only thing that held be back from being the next prima ballerina was my fear of angry looking girls. I showed up to class in my dance leotard with a sparkly tutu (I used to wear it to gymnastics which I gave up because we never did ribbon dancing and that's all I wanted to do) after ballet I tried Irish dancing which was fun... but the teacher was SOOO MEAN! I am a passive person and I definitely don't stand up for myself as much as I should have so I wimped out of that.

This leads me to now. I dance Para Para, and learn Kpop routines, and now...to add one more thing to my list... TECKTONIK!

Basically to my knowledge the Tecktonik dancer must be secretly cool. its not cool to go around saying I AM DANCING TECKTONIK! so technically I'm breaking rule one... BUT then again how else do people learn about it? Though is is cool to keep a youtube account teaching people how to dance tecktonik.

I recommend stretching if you wish to try this... and take it slow. If you try it at the same speed as those who have already mastered Tecktonik...you will look RIDICULOUS. Anways here are some videos I have found useful for the absolute beginer!

This first video is absolutely doable for any beginer.

This is a little more difficult. MAJOR TIP take it slow. stretch your wrists or you WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT injure yourself. I did. and lets be honest... how do you explain a sore wrist without being made fun of...

I find this video gives the movements in the videos above more of a fluid transition. It connects them and shows movement seaquinces. I found this really helpful.

Heres a few links that have more videos, I have yet to watch them all but I assume their good content. They were recommended to me by another site.
http://www.learntecktonik.net/

And thats a day-in-in-the-life for me at the moment. Keeps me occupied and entertained.

Ciao! Groove on and  REMEMBER H2O!

Spring Cleaning?!?

The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and best of all the spring attire is coming out of storage. Now, I am a really REALLY messy person. I am the joke of the family when I say I cleaned my room the response is usually "oh so theres a path now?" or something of that nature. I have 13 years of clutter in my room. My mom never forced me to clean nore did she clean for me because I would always complain when she threw away my collection-of-the-week. I don't know what it is about this year but for some reason I have just been on a cleaning spree! I have four or five garbage bags of stuff to give away to the library and good will in my basement. That is only the beginning. I have years of school work, 16 years to be exact this includes kindergarten and preschool, and its hard sometimes to just dump away this stuff I've always thought that "I will have a use for this someday!" but enough is enough! I want ZEN I want to be able to do yoga in my room, or walk around without getting something wedged in my foot. I want my room back... or well... lets be honest... I never had a clean room back I not really the right term...

ANY WAYS! step one is getting rid of all that I don't need. Yes this includes clothes. I have too many random pieces that I think "Oh this would look lovely with that" when i don't own "that" therefore I need more classics but that's later. Old Marie would start buying classics when I really don't have room for them.
.

Second maximize your space so you get the most out of what you have. Organize so that you really are using your room the most efficient way. Like for example, I have a full length mirror and even though it fits perfectly behind my door I NEVER USE IT also I have a drafting table, a double bed, a large dresser, and a massive guinea pig cage. these are things I don't plan on getting rid of, I plan to use this feature on Ethan Allen's site to the best of its ability to organize my bedroom. There is also graphing paper, useful, but lets be honest... the Ethan Allen link is WAY WAY cooler.

Next is Shelving. I have a friend (Keely who's fabu and Glam blog is here she also has a myspace which I'M sure you can figure that out.)who's room was a complete DISASTER! and now she is the organization queen. Now she didn't spend millions she went to the dollar store as well as ikea and bought some pretty useful stuff. Theres also some pretty cool stuff on
Last is beautifying, yes that's a word. For example... Bookcase, you don't have to put all the books in the same direction. I find you fit more if you stack your books differently by size, slant, stack and what not. It looks way cooler!!! How about organize nic-nacs, I have a Lilo hula girl (you know Lilo and Stitch?) beside my ship in a bottle, ha ha it makes me laugh.

The biggest advantage to more then a path of space... is dancing around your room... I never was able to do that before ha ha!

Anyway GET CLEANING! SEIZE THE DAY! ha ha :)
-Marie Erin

P.S. I got the picture of the book case from Cupcakes and Cashmere. If you have never seen this blog, I recommend you put in at least an hour of browsing through it! Its written by the clever and lovely Emily Schuman all the way in Los Angeles.

A pill to perfection.

The multi Vitamin. It promises so much, perfect skin, hair, and nails. But can one little pill really change everything?
I have a friend who excitedly went out and forked out her money for fancy multivitamins and promised beauty. Only after she bought the vitamin and saw no results did she then read the amount of each vitamin and realize it was not enough. This story sounds kind of familiar doesn't it? Girl sees promise, Girl believes promise, Girl forks out her money for promise, AND FINALLY Girl is disappointed by results of the all curing product that turned out to be just fancy advertising. This happens to ALL of us at some point. What we have to realize is that not just one product will change our lives but and understanding of what that product is and how we can find the best ones that work to their potential and combine them with products that don't counter act each other.

Diet is key! I'M a vegetarian (4 years this may), I don't get natural oils from fish and mammal that help with my nails and hair and whatnot. I have had to do so much research to obtain a healthy diet and I have soooo much more to do. Also I have sensitive skin (which is annoying and OMG pricey to care for hence why I'M obsessed with homemade remedies), and fine hair that gets greasy sometimes within the day I wash it. My point? If your like me this is the blog for you. I know that not everyone has MILLIONS of dollars, I know that its frustrating buying a whole bunch of pricey products just to be told "that's horrible for your hair", and I know its so difficult finding the right answerer's. Every ones yelling "BUY THIS" or "NO BUY THAT" and who knows if their telling the truth or not! Soooo many people are getting paid to say that!

In conclusion, you have my full opinion of truth, I may not always be right but at least I am not leading you to the deathly deps of DEBT!

Love your honest blogger
